AUSSIE actress and former ‘Neighbours’ star Caitlin Stasey has launched a twitter feud with Bindi Irwin after she told News Corp Australia that girls her age should dress ‘classier’.
“I’m a big advocate for young girls dressing their age,” she said.
“I mean, for me, I look around at a lot of young girls that are my age and they’re always trying to dress older. Whether it’s wearing revealing clothes or hardly wearing any clothes at all, I feel really bad for them.
“It kind of has the opposite effect in some ways … it kind of does the opposite where it makes you look younger and like you’re trying too hard.”
Apparently these statements upset Caitlin so much that she had to write an open letter to the child star over Twitter, saying
In ten years you’ll wish you stood beside your shared sex rather than be proud you belittled their choices & agency,” tweeted Stasey.
The 24-year-old actress also threw in her two cents over Bindi’s association with SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida.
“Also, in ten years you’ll deeply regret your affiliation and support of Sea World … To Hazard a guess,” she wrote.
Bindi, who turns 16 next month, has never had any problem standing up for the big issues, from animal protection to world over-population, but it’s obvious she’s now set her sights on a more conservative cause.
Unlike her father, Australian icon Steve Irwin, Bindi has been effectively “ditching” the khaki outside the zoo and starting to ‘experiment’ with her fashion style, which she currently shares with close to 100,000 of her followers on Instagram.
“I guess for me, because I wear khaki so much — waking up every day at the zoo, you just kind of grab your khaki uniform and you’re pretty much good to go — that when I get out of khaki I like to experiment and see how things go,” she said.
“I suppose the last year or so really I’ve been starting to have some fun and see what I can do with makeup and wardrobe and be a little bit of a girlie girl.
“Finding that great line between comfort and looking semi-good is fantastic.”
Twitter users were quick to support Bindi, telling Stasey to leave Bindi alone.
Much to our surprise, Stasey had no problem hitting back.
Bindi is currently in the US with her mother Terri, and brother Robert. She’s yet to respond to Stasey’s comments.
